Center for Spiritual Renewal and Agricultural Production

New World Mission Association
Association of Evangelical Missionaries to the Nations

This Peruvian mission was started over 25 years ago by Pastor Obed Alvarez. The Latin American AMEN Mission School was organized and now has trained approximately 1000 missionaries serving in over 50 countries of the world.

For several years it has been the vision of Pastor Obed, International Director, to build a Center for Spiritual Renewal and Agricultural Production. In order to build this Center, Pastor Obed has been looking for a suitable piece of land at a reasonable price outside of Lima, Peru. A suitable location has been found.

Santa Rosa de Quives, located 65 kilometers from Lima, there is a beautiful and bucolic small town that bears the name of the Saint Patron of America, Santa Rosa of Lima. The saint resided in those premises along with her parents. She received the sacrament of confirmation from the hands of Archbishop Toribio Alfonso de Mogrovejo in the year 1597.

Santa Rosa de Quives was born as a district when it detached itself from the district of Arahuay. The town of Santa Rosa de Quives, which was called either Quives or Quivi, was added to the new administrative unit as an annex.

We believe a miracle occurred during the dedication of the new church in Leticia built by the Upland First Presbyterian Mission Team July 2005. A landowner came to Pastor Obed after the service and offered to sell him land that would work perfectly for this project. It was also offered at a much lower cost than anything Obed had found in this larger valley.

The total cost for this approximately 10 acre piece of prime agricultural land is $76.600.00, The Peru Mission Team from the First Presbyterian Church of Upland, California gave a partial down payment of $10.000.00 to secure this property. We have recently sent an additional $7,000.00 that was donated by Northkirk Presbyterian Church, of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Taiwanese Presbyterian Church of Upland, California and private individuals. The additional $13,000.00 has been collected and sent.

Again, we see God's work as the initial payment of $30,000.00 has been collected and paid to the land owner. This allows NEWMA-AMEN to secure the deed and start work on construction of the Center of Renewal and Production.

The balance of $46,600.00 will still be needed to finish the purchase of the entire 10 acres. After the land has been purchased, the Center of Renewal and Production will be built. This facility will be use for many purposes such as housing the Latin American AMEN Mission School to train pastors and other church workers to go out the various parts of the world and spread the message of Jesus Christ.

In addition, the agricultural production from the property would provide food for those who staff the projects and would help to offset the cost of food for students who study in the Latin American AMEN Mission School. This project could also provide income and work for persons in the community and improve the local economy, in addition to providing self-sustaining ministry for the projected 25 new mission churches to be planted in the valley by NEWMA-AMEN.

It is hoped that this will become a pilot project that can be used to promote similar self-sustaining ministries in other areas of Peru and other third world countries. Using the concept of helping the area economy by teaching local citizens various agricultural and other trades in addition to teaching missionaries the gospel, the local economy improves, the local citizens have skills that help them to earn a better living, and message of Good News is taught to those who have not heard the word.

We ask for your help in this ministry. We need to immediately complete the first payment for the land. Then the deed will be turned over to NEWMA-AMEN and preliminary work can begin on the building structure. We need to collect the balance for the property and make the final payment. Then the final construction can proceed to finish the Center.

We need to collect the $46,600.00 balance to complete the purchase the property. After that, we need approximately $1,500,000.00 for the actual building. With God's will and your support we can accomplish this most important ministry.
